Digital Spy reported at the weekend that Disney’s Freeview channel, abc1 is closing.
Apparently being unable to broadcast past 1800 on Freeview is the main problem; abc1 doesn’t reach prime-time audiences (except is you’re like me and you have a PVR – I watch lots of abc1 at prime-time).
I sincerely doubt that Disney will sell the Freeview slot, it’s just too valuable, but the daytime availability makes me think that they will launch a cut-down version of the Disney Channel to compete with CBBC.
