NCTJ and BJTC announce strategic partnership

Joanne Butcher, Chief Executive of the National Council for the Training of Journalists, has just announced that she’s entering into a partnership with the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.

This is clearly in recognition that the disciplines of broadcast journalists and newspaper journalists are increasingly similar.

Being a broadcast journalist myself and from my experience, I suspect the training requirements of new journalists may need to be skewed slightly more heavily in the direction of broadcast discipline as far as multi-skilling with audio and video go.

The announcement was made at the Society of Editors Conference in Glasgow.
