World’s oldest newspaper goes web, ditches print

Don’t get too excited by the headline. By the looks of things, this paper is ceasing print production because it can’t afford it anymore. Sweden’s Post och Inrikes Tidningar only has one employee.

More from AP, via Washington Post.

Possibly a good thing, in print the pamphlet only had a readership of a thousand or so. Online, readers could blossom. Or not. The actual contents of PoIT comes from the Swedish Companies Registration Office.

If it wasn’t for the fact that this publication ranks top of the list of oldest newspapers still in production, this wouldn’t be a story.
